[ He gives Reo a small smile. ]

Mabu.... these are really good!

[ He finally sits all the way up with his hands in his lap looking like he was practically sparkling. Actually that's because he was sparkling. ]

I made a few batches for you, but I wasn't really sure what filling would be best, so...

[ He has a problem, okay? But seeing such a reaction from Reo warms his heart. ]

I'm glad you like them. I'm still rusty on cooking and baking, but I've been improving.

I'd be happy to try some more... or something so. Yeah.

[ At that, Mabu lifts up the platter. The different types of puff balls are neatly arranged almost in a period, but not so precariously so it's probably okay to take one from just about anywhere without it toppling over. ]

Which one looks the best to you?

Surprise me!

[ He closes his eyes and opens his mouth wide, waiting for Mabu to treat him. ]

[ Mabu thinks about which flavor to give Reo. After careful deliberation, Mabu pops one of the treats into Reo's mouth. This one is a cream puff ball -- sweet and light and creamy. ]

[gunlabels]

[ Ah.... he wasn't expecting him to have made something so sweet as well. He lets out a happy sound as he chewed down on this puff ball. The sparkly bubbles starting to increase. ]

Mabu.... this is so delicious...! I feel like... it's been forever since I've had your cooking..!

[heartgear]

It's really getting better then?

[ He can't help but be a little relieved as he reaches out to delicately poke one of the bubbles. ]

[gunlabels]

[ He stopped himself before what he wanted to say next slipped out. "It just like you were cooking like your old self again...!" No you idiot! He was always his old self, don't be so insensitive! ]

D-Delicious!

[ He couldn't believe that thought even came to his mind... baka!! ]

[heartgear]

[ Mabu is initially pleased, and the proof of that can be seen in the small sparks that burst and dissipate quickly in the air. Then he turns his evaluative gaze on Reo in the dimness of their apartment. ]

I know it isn't quite there yet, but I think with enough practice I'll improve to how I used to cook. Still... I'm glad they're edible.

I still... can't believe you're willing to go through so much effort for me...

Why's that...?

[gunlabels]

[ What does he mean why? He was there! He knows how mean he was, and yet he could easily just forgive and forget? He didn't deserve that! ]

[ Reo chews on his bottom lip for a second before climbing out of his futon and moving around until he was behind Mabu. ]

Stay still.

[ He wasn't going to be about all this take take take anymore. He was going to give in return and there was nothing Mabu could say to change that! He moved his hands to Mabu's shoulders and slowly starts massaging him. ]

[heartgear]

[ A reprimand was already on the tip of his tongue over the lip chewing, but he's distracted by Reo telling him to stay still. At first he thinks Reo just wants to smash a bug or something, but... ]

Not that... I'm complaining, but you didn't really answer my question, Reo.

[gunlabels]

[ Reo's hands start working softly at his shoulders and that spot where his neck meets his shoulders. ]

I just... haven't shown you enough of my appreciation that's all. You always go through so much and do so much for me...

[heartgear]

Reo....

[ He smiles fondly, although he doesn't quite think what Reo said is entirely true. ]

I've never once thought you didn't appreciate me, Reo. Actually, that's not true... there was that one time when I'd prepared a wonderful curry for you when you were in the mood for stew.... So that time aside, I've never once thought you didn't appreciate me.

[ He means it -- the way he felt when Reo rejected him was another matter entirely. ]

We're partners. 50-50. So don't feel like you're not doing enough, especially when the two of us have only just begun to get our bearings.

[ Mabu plucks another puff ball and reaches back to hold it out to Reo. This one is springy and refreshing -- cucumbers. ]

Got it?

Mabu...

[ Every time Mabu speaks up and tells him stuff like this, he finds himself wanting to start crying. He has so much guilt inside for all the bad things he's done to Mabu, but every time he even slightly brings it up, Mabu stops him and tells him his true heart's feelings.

He wrapped his arms around Mabu from behind and opened his mouth to take the new puff ball from his fingers with his mouth. Nomnomnom. ]

I-I got it...!

[heartgear]

Good.

[ Mabu is all smiles and he gently helps pop the puff ball into Reo's mouth with his thumb. He wishes he could take the guilt Reo feels away from him, though. Mabu knows that even though Reo kept rejecting him again and again, he knew that in a convoluted way, everything had been for Mabu's sake anyway. He could never be angry or bear a grudge at Reo for that. ]

My feelings on that won't ever change.

[gunlabels]

[ Reo Nuzzles his cheek against Mabu's from behind. This puff is his favorite. it was definitely his favorite of the bunch so far! Everything tasted so good and he just wanted to cling to Mabu even more now. A soft whine slipped out as he puts more weight against Mabu's back. ]

So good....

[heartgear]

[ Mabu certainly doesn't mind. ]

In food heaven, Reo?

[ Or rather, cucumber heaven, since he suspects it's the cucumber flavor that's done it. ]

This one's sooooo goood! Mabu Mabuuuuu The cucumber is cooked just right!

[heartgear]

[ Mabu chuckles quietly, a few more sparks appearing and popping out of existence. ]

I have a few cucumbers left, so you can eat them. Raw, cooked, however you like.

[gunlabels]

This place really did have cucumbers?

[ Aaaaaah! He hugs onto Mabu even tighter until he makes them both topple over. ]

[ Oof! Mabu lies there, smiling despite toppling over, and nods. ]

I found some last night... right next to some zucchini at one of the local shops. I made sure to save some for you.
